  • NXT 2.0 and M21 2.0 same product??

    Hey Guys and Gals,

This is the second or third time I have heard this mentioned on MOL, that NXT 2.0 and M21 2.0 is essentially the same product. I have both but have yet to use M21. I have noticed however that they are different in color. M21 is purple while NXT is creme in color. Just curious if anyone has the facts as to whether it is or isn't the same product? Maybe Tim or Mike Phillips could chime in with the definative answer.

M21 is different in that it is formulated so that it can be applied using a rotary buffer, so it's formulated so that it can be applied in a way where heat may be present.

It's usually not a good idea or a good practice to apply waxes with a rotary buffer but the production detail industry does production work and that means they try do do things the fastest way, not always the best way.

See we know and understand this we modify or formulas for this practice even though we don't endorse it.

    Makes sense?

So Mike, besides it being formulated for rotary use, Is it a essentially the same product? Also, thanks for your explanation on why it can be used with a rotary. I always wondered why products like pure waxes or sealants would be label for rotary use when it's fairly common knowledge that they shouldn't be applied via a rotary for the reason you mentioned.

Ive always wondered the same thing.

One thing that confuses me, most people say that #21v1 lasted longer than nxtv1 and some even say that nxtv2 doesnt last very long. If this is true and nxtv2 is basically the same thing as #21v2 then something isnt adding up.

As far as I know... I can check with Mike Pennington for more clarification.

This is really what I'm asking Mike. Is there any difference at all besides color, in the formulation of the product which, besides the fact it can be applied by rotary, that makes it better than NXT 2.0, or is it essentially the same product which stands up better to the heat which will be created when using a rotary to apply the product. Is it supposed to last longer? Give more clarity of shine, etc.? Does it have any cleaning properties?

            Thanks

Good question Andy! I've always wondered too. If I was going to apply them by hand what differences would I see.

I would take Mike's advice, buy both, do a side by side test on a hood like 3Fitty did, and let us know.

Thanks Mike. The way I see it is why try both side by side if they are basically the same product and will give the same results.

If you re-read this thread, I never recommended to try both or compare both, I remember typing that in a reply this week to someone asking about Gold Class and NXT but not NXT vs M21.

Hi there, just a question in according to what is saying on this thread NXT2.0 and M21 are same synthetic sealant? And also if NXt2.0 is considered as a sealant, Can I top Next 2.0 with M26 for better protection? thanks guys!

I only suggested trying both since some have commented they believe they get different results and I did use Mike's advice from another thread.

Sorry about that Mike. I should have been more clear on why I was thanking you. I meant to say thanks for your reply when you said "As far as I know... I can check with Mike Pennington for more clarification." You pretty much verified what I was thinking. As far as trying both, others recommend that and I was just saying that If they are basically the same product, why bother.

M21 2.0 definitely has more lubricants in it cuz people use it on a rotary.. that i can say.
