  • Claying wheels and glass...

I have read that it is a good idea to clay your wheels (if they are clearcoated) and your glass...

    Is this true?

Yes you can, just don't reuse the clay on your paint.

Just curious as to where you're coming from after reading your posting history on this forum... now everything makes sense...

          Here's the truth...

          You can clay anything smooth...

          Glass
          Paint
          Chrome
          Stainless Steel
          Smooth surface plastics

If the surface is smooth you can push a piece of clay over it with a spray lubricant and depending upon what the contaminants are that you're trying to remove it should work to remove them.

I clay my exhaust tips also, and the reachable parts of the mufflers... they are aluminum, with the tips more polished.

Yes. Just plan to clean your glass properly afterwards.

Wow, I am definitely going to have to try it on my wheels!

Will clay remove set water marks that I can't get off with my Eagle One glass cleaner?

Possibly... it would be the next thing to try.

Both of my cars so far, and my parents car had water spots on glass when they were new from the dealer... nothing terrible, but a couple glass cleaner applications didnt do anything. I washed the cars, then clayed, then used Nxt Glass Cleaner, then 2 coats of RainX. After the first time, they were better... I think after 2 details like that they were gone, 3 at most.

                        Re: Claying wheels and glass...

I usually clay the paint, glass, and the wheels. Just a friendly reminder. Once you clay the wheels that piece of clay should never touch paint.

Definitely. I would hate to rub into my paint the junk that comes off my wheels.

With so many possibilities, it would be best to buy the professional size clay?

If your car is in good shape, a little still goes a long way.

I know it's been said before but... Do not use the clay from your wheels on your paint!

When my paint clay gets old and just about time to toss it. It gets demoted to wheel duty.

Another trick is not to use the whole clay bar. Cut it up into smaller pieces.
