  • Paint sometimes seems hazy & recommendation of products.

I have a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, in Palladium Silver. It's a big darker than your traditional silver, or Mercedes other silver, Iridium Silver.

Anyway, sometimes, the hood and trunk lid, and sometimes even the doors, but more often the flat hood or trunk lid, in shady or flat light, it looks like blotches of hazy, or blotchiness.

It seems like *maybe* this happens after I using the Ultimate Quick Detailer. It doesn't seem to do it right when I wax. Here are the products I regularly use in order:

    #7 - Show Car Glaze
    NXT Generation 2 Tech Wax

and then the Ultimate Spray Dealer to maintain it.

Any of those products cause was I describe?

Finally, since the car is few months older figure I should add a cleaner before the polish in the future. What would you recommend? I want something to use by hand. Scratch X too harsh?

Also, I'd like to sometimes use a paste wax after the NXT Generation 2. Recommendation? Would like the Yellow Wax Paste be appropriate, or the Gold Class Paste, which is better?

    Thanks so much!

Those products won't make paint hazy but they also won't fix dull hazy paint, what you need is a dedicated paint cleaner.

Here's a simple, inexpensive test, go to any auto parts store and pick up a bottle of Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, then after washing or wiping an affected are clean, take and apply and work in this paint cleaner to a small section where the paint looks hazy or dull.

You could even use some painter's tape to make separation of before and after so you can really see the difference after you apply and work the paint cleaner.

This test section only needs to be about 8" to 12" inches in size, large enough to enable you with your hand to spread the product out and work it in and over the paint but small enough that you'll be able to inspect a before and after area on the same panel.

Do this test and then report back what you see.

Hopefully all your car's paint needs is a good cleaning to restore clarity and gloss to the finish. If the paint cleaner fixes the problem then you just have to repeat this process over the rest of the car or the affected areas.

If it doesn't fix the problem then it will likely take a more aggressive product and/or a machine applied product or maybe the problem is more serious than we know at this time.

The experiment outlined above will go a long way to helping us trouble shoot the problem.

Re: Paint sometimes seems hazy & recommendation of products.

      Thank you Sir.

I am able to stop the issue after going back through my polish and seal procedure, so hopefully adding the cleaner before it, will keep it from coming back so soon each time. It's really hard to describe.

It's like when you look at it from an angle, you see areas where it looks like it hasn't been wiped, but wiping doesn't clear it up, unless I go through and polish and seal/wax again.

I think adding the cleaner before like you say will help a lot! Thanks!
