  • QD alternative when claying?

I am in the middle of claying my wifes Expedition and I think I may run out of QD. The store is 30 minutes away and I would like to avoid that. Can I mix a little car soap with water and use that as a lubricant? I can handle rinsing it off if I have to.

Yeah...but it s not the best, and may cause the clay to fall apart....

If you try it, I imagine you would want the same soap/water ratio as normal.

Sorry Mike, havent been around long enough to know where all the info is at.

I got a little less trigger happy and had enough to do the job.

No problem... often times when I answer a question it's not just for the person asking it but for the hundreds and maybe even thousands of people that will read this thread over time... it's called...

          Typing for the future...

sometimes its also easier just to ask the question again, instead of searching for a while, and in a field like this, things change quite often, so it's good to get updates to old problems

I have found, so far, that Gold Class and water doesn't break the clay down. I have used it quite a few times as an alternative and not had any problems later. Not sure about the other soaps though.
