boot rack

Hi there, first post. Can anyone help me, it’s that time of year for the holidays and last year when I took my boot rack off my bmw z3, it left four round marks where the sucker cups had been. The area was clean when I put it on the car. Is there anything that I can put under the cups to stop this. it took a hell of alot to get the marks off.
