    Re: Hazing with NXT Wax

After using a bottle of the original NXT for about a year without problems, I just noticed a problem with hazing this weekend.

I let the wax dry completely so that it passed the swipe test and then waited another 10 minutes (for a total of 50 minutes). The wax removes cleanly, but if I wipe the paint an hour or two later, I get fine-lined, hazy streaks that look greasy. What's weird is that the streaks wipe clean if I swipe with my hand or finger.

Humidity was relatively low at 35% - 40%, and ambient temperature got as high as 86F while I was working.

I read on the forum that NXT 1.0 had problems with hazing, especially near the end of the bottle if not shaken well whenever used. I've got about 1/3 of a bottle left. I'd been shaking for about 1 minute before each waxing job and again for 5-10 seconds every couple of times of reloading the pad. But, maybe that's not enough?

I was planning on getting a bottle of NXT 2.0, but since there still seem to be hazing issues, maybe I'll have to find something else or wait until version 2.1.

I called Meguiar's customer service, and the adviser said that the streaks were not affecting the durability or effectiveness of the wax. He suggested using a quick detailer to remove the streaks. He did agree that it's unusual to get streaks upon wiping a clean surface. When I asked how I could prevent this from happening in the future, he said that although 40% humidity is not very high, maybe see what happens when the humidity is even lower.

BTW, even though the bottle is about a year old, it's been inside, so hasn't been stored in temperatures above 85F or below freezing. Though, I have used it in the garage when the temperature is above 90F or in the 50's.

I hope Meguiars can get this hazing issue resolved before too long.

Is anyone getting the same streaking with #21 2.0?

          Re: Hazing with NXT Wax

Hey guys...I recall reading a thread with a few of the "mikes" involved that was about NXT 1.0/m21 1.0 I think was the other...there was actually a bad batch or two released and you might need to contact cusutomer service, I never used it but have had the same problems with NXT 2.0 in many situations with many different nerve racking outcomes, and although I feel they let a bad batch of NXT 2.0/M21 2.0 out I gathered some info from their thread and here is some of what I remember reading but I wont be quoting them, but basically what these streaks/blotches/patches/blobs are is some of the polymers and/or molecules that are a little slower to dry/haze/set b/c they were a LITTLE too thick on the paint and when wiped they are then smudged into, across, and all around the surface of the paint and not be picked up (which is why a lot of times you see the streaks MOVE in the direction of a wipe or even worse, SPREAD out. So basically to try avoid this problem, IMHO you should make sure you are using the proper application method and/or tools, hand for consumer and machine for pro line, prime your pad with product or however you prefer, by machine is formulated for machine so use VERY little wax and dab it around the area to be worked and make it go as far as you can or until you can no longer see wax being applied, then apply a few more little beads/drops to the pad, dab it around and repeat step 1 and go around the whole vehicle. Also doing several "swipe tests" starting where you ended with the wax, aftr it has dried...if there is any doubt that you are swiping to finished surface, let it dry some more...take a shower or something maybe if you are finished lboring or if you are just sweaty/smelly HAHAHA (I always remove in the same order as I apply so all my wax bonds as close to uniformly as possible.) also they say wax should "cure" before being touched, QD`ed, UQD`ed or even a 2nd coat for (12 hours seems to be the median) so after I wax, or when I wax and do not have streaks I would hit it with the UQD and streaks would just pop onto the paint, and when there were streaks the UQD (went through that ^ there) So basically if its your car and/or you have a garage or somewhere it will stay clean overnight or for 6-12+ hrs and it can sit and cure, come back to it, and add the 2nd coat and then, LOL 12 hours later or so...come by and UQD and touch-up anything you missed during day/session #1.

GaryH in post #16 uses a great method of "paragraph technology", which actually makes us want to read the post, instead of blowing off any post that is miles long with paragraph usage :thumb:.

                    Re: Hazing with NXT Wax

I was too caught up in passing along valuable information from my mind to potential viewers/reviewers about my experiences with the product to worry about indenting my paragraph or pretty much any proper grammer (although this is 2.0 I am others are having these issues with now)
