I went to a detailing shop and asked them what brand do they use in their detailing jobs and they said that they are using "mixed" products(brands). According to them, you get the pros and lessen the con of the different brands. How true is this?

Re: Detailing Shop
This is fact across the industry. Within our shops and mobile operations we use a wide base of products (and yes Meguiar's is part of that base) that total nearly 80 in count!
View this from the prospective of the business...they have spent countless hours and lots of money developing their preferred processes with their preferred products and like them, we are very guarded of those processes and products.
While many professionals go with one-line, some add additional products to their arsenal. Even in regards to Meguiar's...not all will share the steps/products they use to achieve greatness

Re: Detailing Shop
Both of the above could be true. Certainly sounds like a reasonable answer.
The more important thing is if any of their work was on display that you could see, did it look like they were using their products/tools properly?2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: Detailing Shop
It sounds reasonable that a detailer could/would use a mix of brands in their work. There are many excellent products on the market, but there are also different levels of expertise among detailers and since different products behave differently (just think about M80 vs M83) and these guys all have their own little idiosyncrasies, techniques, etc (right, wrong or otherwise). They're going to use what they're comfortable with and what they know. Odds are they aren't going to tell you just what that is though.
We've even heard guys rave about various Meguiar's waxes/sealants because their customers are blown away by the shine, but when the customer asks what was used they're simply told, rather generically, "Meguiar's".Michael Stoops
