  • Exterior trim detailer?

Can I use exterior trim detailer in the motor bay? I have a lot black plastic under the hood along with my cold air intake that is made out of rubber. I can get hyper dressing but it is way expensive at the store that I would get it from.

You sure can! Ive never used that certain type but I have use both ASD and hyper dressing. Just dont spray it all over the headers and such, stay on the plastic.

You can get sample sizes of concentrate hyper dressing from ADS. With shipping its not really worth it unless you get a few things with the order though. Make sure you get an extra hyper dressing bottle to dilute it in.

are you sure theyre plastic? thats extremely unlikely, maybe its just a plastic cover over the valve covers? if thats the case youll be fine, ive used this stuff on engine covers etc. with now problems (and great results).

Actually there are a few manufacturers using a thermoplastic/composite material to make valve covers. I had a Saturn model from the late '90s with this and I believe Ford has used it as well.

If its black, M40 for the job under the hood! Just be sure the engine is cold when you apply it.

All Season Dressing works well also.

Thanks for all your input. The problem with getting the professional grade is that it is expensive at my local store. They price it up 5 to seven dollars. Oh well I will just stick with getting exterior detailer.

Honestly, Ive found it worth it to order online. Saves a bunch of money and you can buy product that you use a lot in bulk.

Personally, Id go with HyperDressing. It puts a slight shine on everything and does not go overboard.
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

Yea, some engines have plastic valve covers. Some older I-6 4.0 AMC engines they put in Jeeps had them.

Yeah the first years of the 4.6 has plastic valve covers (strange). I just bought the exterior trim detailer and I am detailing my car tomorrow for the car show on tuesday the 6.
