  • Yellow(rusty) dots on white paint?

I am newb car washer. just washed my 2006 White Acura TSX, but i noticed some tiny yellow dots on part of the paint, some you can pick up by nails, some are hard to remove, it looks like rust, not sure what it is and how to remove it.

which product can i use (BY HAND) to remove this?
    I have tried
    Clay
    Deep Crystal® System Paint Cleaner

it removes some of it, but not all, should i use something stronger?

It sounds like you have some rail dust on the paint.

I would give the clay another try. It may take a while to remove the stubborn ones, but this is your best bet.

If these turn out to be stains, I would use ScratchX.

It sounds like rail dust. Like Chris says your best bet is to give the clay another shot. Let us know how you do.

Some ppl are telling me that's the oxidation seen particularly on white paint, so that is not true?

If this were oxidation, it would be more widespread. Plus, your car has a clearcoat, which doesn't oxidize as easily.

Rail dust is very noticible on lightly colored vehicles. The yellow spots you see are a prime example.

Just try claying it with Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit and you'll probably be ok.

                Do they look like this?

If so, clay again and use a paint cleaner after. The results should look like this:

Thanks for the pictures budman, I wasn't sure what raildust looked like, and now I know!!! BTW what is rail dust? Is this brake dust particles that are extremely hot and melt themselves in the paint?

It tends to be from transporting cars by rail mostly, such as bits of iron kicked up as the trains roll along, brake ,etc, though car brakes can also help.

If you live in an area where they use Mag Chloride on the roads it will do that too. We have that on all our cars when winter is over. Some clay fixes it right up usually!
