  • New to this! Have Questions.

OK I've never done any detailing to a vehicle before.
I just bought My first new car and want to keep in in top shape.

What are the best steps and products for a new person to use.

is it ok to use a wand wash car wash first to wash my car then detail it. Or should I hand wash it?
    Are touchless washes alright.

My car has some light scratches on the hood as it was a buy back fro the dealer.
Can i use the scratchX on the entire car? or is there another product I can use?

    thanks

    For your current questions:

    1. The problem with touchless and the wand places are the soap.. it is going to be a very strong soap, and will likely remove a lot of your wax protection.

    2. You can, but doing an entire car with it will ****. But we can can into that after you get a chance to read the threads above.

Re: New to this! Have Questions.

      Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

The below article is about removing swirls from a clear coat by hand, but you can still follow the steps even if your paint is in great condition to properly clay, clean, polish and wax it.

How To Remove Swirls By Hand

As for washing it, if you want to keep your paint as swirl free as possible, it's best to take ownership of the car washing process versus having it done by a car wash of any type.

Get a quality car wash, both NXT Car Wash and Gold Class are great non-detergent car wash soaps, Gold Class is our Top Shelf car wash with the best lubricating and slickness characteristics but if you like lots of suds then go with the NXT car wash, either one, they both work great.

Then get a quality wash mitt and some quality drying towels and you're good to go.
