I have a 6'' velcro pad and I was wondering if it can be used with Meguiar's pad's.

I also do not use the meguiars backing velcro pad. I have the 3M HookIt II yellow backing pad.
It deffinately holds onto the pads, but it is EXTREMELY sticky. I'm not sure if this is just for the first few times, but the brand new velcro plate, along with a brand new meguiars pad takes a long handled screw driver to get them apart without tearing the pad to pieces with my hands.
hopefully this won't wear out the velcro on my pads to fast, but to answer your question "maybe". It all depends on what style of velcro is on the plate. Maybe find a friend who has a meguiars pad, or even ask the guys at the local body shop to take a look at it and see what they think...they might even let you try it on a pad.
i know this doesn't help a whole lot, but just letting you know that i have used a non-meguiars backing plate without a whole lot of trouble.
