  • Types of Vroom MF towels

    More q's for you guys

Does anyone have experience with the gray Vroom Detailing Microfiber towels from Target? It costs about $6 for a 4pack.

The detailing cloth has 2 sides to it. 1 side has the short nap and the other side has the longer nap which feels really soft and plush.

My question is, what are those 2 sides used for? I want to use those gray MF towels for wax, quick detailing, and drying\washing certain areas of my car but don't know which side I should use.

I'm assuming the longer nap side is used for applying/spreading quick detailer and wax around while the short nap is used to buff out wax/polishers? If I used the short nap to dry my car, would it remove some of the wax?

I have several Vroom towels, I dont know about the double sides ones. I just use them for interior and glass, and stick with Supreme Shines for the paint, so I cant really say how they do with polishes, waxes, etc.

They seem like good quality as far as general use at least.

FYI: The 4pk Detailing Microfiber cloths are 16x16. I'll try to get pictures of it next week to so you guys can see the difference.

        Hey david
my understanding is that the longer the nap the better for removing wax, cleaner or whatever your removing because it will hold more product in the nap area.

Might be a good idea to also contact the manufacture and ask them these questions and see what kind of answers you get. Be sure to post back here their replies.

            Vroom = meh..

Door jabs, windows, interior with quick detailer... I found them to be pretty useless for any work on paint.

I use them for the wheels, engine & interior as well as glass. This way if they get too dirty I can just toss them out if they are beyond washing.

I was at Target and it looks like the gray Vroom towels have changed. They are the same price but they are much thinner -- more like the orange towels -- and a lighter shade of gray.

You're right, I just came back from Target and saw the new lighter gray Detailing MF too. They also changed their blue Vroom Window MF which now feels like their gray/white with orange border MF line.

The gray detailing MF doesn't have the long nap on one side anymore. Instead, they're now short naps on both sides. I wonder why they changed the design.. I'll give Vroom a call tomorrow and ask

Re: Types of Vroom MF towels

I wouldn't use any Target brands on a good paint job...although they do make nice towels for the interior. I use them to wipe off dust and such, works well.

On a side note, I found PlastX last night at Wal-Mart for around $4 for a bottle.

Found this link from another forum:

The first picture with the blue MF is similar to the one I purchased at Target. Short nap on one side and medium/long nap on the other side.

There's some really good info on MF towels in that link!

Re: Types of Vroom MF towels

I know they have two gray towels. One has a short nap and is about 12 X 16, they also come in white. Then there is a thicker gray towel, one side has a long nap the other has a short nap, I think they're about 16 X 24. These bigger ones have been used on paint by some and they said they are paint safe. Last time I was at Target, about a week and a half ago, they still had both towels. I wouldn't use the smaller ones on paint but they're great for interior work.

Re: Types of Vroom MF towels

I found another forum that mentioned that the gray Vroom Detailing MF cloths are being replaced with the shorter nap cloths. I guess this confirms that they're trying to phase out the old towels with the clearance pricing. Is the change good or bad? I don't know, I'm not that experienced with MF yet so I don't really know what to look for

If you are going with Meguiars products anyway, look for some Supreme Shines for your paint.

You will still want a bunch of cheaper MF's and terrys for dirtier spots, interior, etc anyway.
