just as the title says, how effective is #7 by hand vs. by DA? I'm going to tackle my truck tomorrow, and was wanting to do #7, but I don't have an extra pad to use it on my DA.

Re: Effectiveness of #7 by hand?
DO NOT allow Meguiar's 'pure polishes' to haze up.
#7 is a unique product to work with. The idea behind it is that you wipe it on, than wipe it off, however what you will find is that #7 likes to 'skin'. Basically, you wipe it on, than lightly wipe off a majority of it, it will skin over very quickly, and than wipe off the remaining amount. It isn't the easiest glaze to work with, but man is it effective!
Your other option is to use a glaze that is a bit more user friendly and will likely provide virtually the same results. Chances are you won't be able to tell the difference between #7 and Deep Crystal Polish, but DCP is worlds easier/quicker to use.

Re: Effectiveness of #7 by hand?
Wolf-Strong is spot on and I agree with everything stated.
Since you're planning on doing this tomorrow I can only assume you already have #7 in your possession. Here's how I apply it by hand:
Using a yellow foam applicator and a Quarter sized dollop of #7, start rubbing the product against the paint in the usual 2' x 2' area. It will glide on very easily but the moment you start to feel it drag against that applicator pad, stop working it and start taking it off. Don't try to remove it all in one pass, take your time. You shouldn't need any elbow grease as it's easy to do if done correctly.
Had you not been in possession of #7 I would recommend you try M81 Hand Polish as an alternative, especially if your car has a modern clear coat finish. I apply this with a microfiber applicator pad using basically the same process as outlined above, with the exception that I've really never noticed it wanting to set up on me. I just go over a given area a few times with the applicator and then wipe it off with a clean MF towel. It's a good deal easier to use than #7 but the results are still terrific.Michael Stoops

The Deep Crystal Polish will work fine too! Just to add from your other post over at F150online, since you are going to use M80, you may not see much of a difference in using DC polish. M80 followed by NXT2.0 will probably look dang good as it is! Save yourself some time.

You apply, then wipe off, usually working section by section. The W-8006 works best for applying when using a DA Polisher on about the 4.0 speed setting.
Like a wax, you would make 2-3 passes over each square inch and then either move on to a new section or put the polisher down and wipe the excess off that panel and then move on.
Hope this helps...
