Removing swirls

Hello all

Quick question - Starting to detail the Saleen. I have noticed a few swirls on it so I started with #83 and the G110 w/8006 pad at setting #5 (wash and clay was done first). After I finished my test area i followed with #80. Amazing difference but when I pulled it out in the sunlight I can still see a few scratches left. Should I switch to 105 or something different or just be more patient and work the area some more? The car is my baby so I don't want to be overly agressive.

I'd work it a bit longer, maybe giving it a second pass of M80 and working it as long as possible. Unless you have a rotary you might want to reconsider M105 as it's not recommended for use with the G110/DA. That's not to say it absolutely won't work, but Meguiar's does not recommend it.

Mustangs have hard paint. I have swirls that I can't get out with M83. Maybe try Scratch X on those select areas?

If M83 won't get your defects out, ScratchX sure as heck won't do any better as it's a far less aggressive product.

If Stangs have such hard paint I'd try a second pass with M83 and then possibly go over with M80 to remove any possible micro marring, especially since speedster1322 is working on a black car.

I think from seeing posts in the past that SX applied in a concentrated spot would work better than M83 spread out over a larger area?

I know all about the black. It is really kind of a toss up if you need to use M80 after M83, at least on my black Mustang. I don't think that I would have needed to follow with M80, but I did for the oils more than defect removal, although that didn't hurt either.
