  • Better protecting

I finally got my tin of #16 in, and after waxing half the kitchen sink, having water spots form, and them just rinsing right off, just how well does #16 protect? I know Meguiar's says NXT 2.0 is their best protecting wax, but is that including #16, or is that only the waxes that are currently being sold.

I simply want the best protecting wax for my paint, and am going to maintain it with UQD

EDIT: Yes, the first thing I waxed was my can of #16, then followed by the kitchen sink!

    Re: Better protecting

Ive not heard much on the longevity of NXTv2 but I would say #21v2 lasts longer.

Ive always heard #16 lasts longer than anything else but I still think Ill use NXTv2 as my dedicated wax b/c I can easily buy more and it looks awesome. Ill use #16 on paint that I know I wont be able to wax often.

I'm talking about durability with how long the paint well last, I am talking about how well the wax protects the paint against things such as water spotting, etchings from bird doo-doo, bugs, and all that jaz.

        Re: Better protecting

R&D has told us the best protecting ingredients are in the NXT and M21

As for which wax will physically stay on the surface, (durability), don't think anyone has ever made a statement on that, it's a really hard thing to test and last we heard there are no ASTM tests for this kind of measurement, most people go the visual test of water beading or lack of water beading.

Maybe you could clean your hood, that is wash it, clay it if needed and then rub it out using a light paint cleaner like Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner or a light cleaner/polish like the #9 or #82, then take and apply the M16 and the NXT to two sections on your car's hood about 12 to 16 inches square, (this leaves bare paint surrounding the section to use as a control to measure against), and then watch the test sections over time and over the normal course of how you wash and use your car and see if you can determine which product lasts longer for you in your situation?

Just and idea... simple enough test to do...

Opps I made a typo in my last post; I meant:
I'm not talking about durability with how long the wax well last, rather I am talking about how well the wax protects the paint against things such as water spotting, etchings from bird doo-doo, bugs, and all that jaz. Mar 9th, 2008 01:13 PM
Knowing NXT protects better than anything else Meguiar's offers, or did offer, is all I needed to know
