  • Another New Paint Question

Some of the panels of my car (silver) were repainted in the last week of December. Good that the body shop did an excellent job.

As per advice from this forum, I painfully stayed off waxing the car since the paint job. I live in Toronto and they were lot of snow (road salt) in the past 2 months. I did wash my car often but the new panels were left unprotected for more than 2 months.

I plan to wax the car in 2 weeks in a heated garage. Should I do clay-clean(DC1)-polish(DC2)-wax or just wax? Should I use NXT, GC or Synthetic Sealant (#21)? I will apply these products by hand.

You can do anything you like.

As it has been winter, I am sure the paint has gotten dirty, so claying and cleaning will likely be a good idea.

My favorite wax so far is the old #21, so I have to use it up before I try the 2.0 version. I would probably go with Nxt 2.0 or #21 2.0 if you havent gotten them yet.

        Re: Another New Paint Question

The paint job was done in end of December and my own garage is not heated. These 2.5 months are the winter months that maybe the new paint has not been cured.

I did not buy NXT 2.0 nor the #21 2.0. I still have full bottles of the older versions.

My concern is maybe clay-clean-polish is too invasive to the new paint.

The DC system is very mild, and using a mild clay like the Smooth Surface kit is mild also.

So those steps will be fine, using a foam applicator will be mildest, and either wax will be fine.
