  • Removing wax from vehicle

My 2005 white Toyota Camry and 2002 pewter Chevy Tahoe are in very good shape paint wise (no swirls or paint marring, as far as I can tell). Anyway, I wish to wash, clay then wax these vehicles. Normally I use GC car shampoo but in an attempt to remove the wax, could I use Dawn dish soap then clay and wax? I realize the clay bar WILL remove wax, but I'm thinking, if the wax has been in the wash won't the clay bar have less work to do and hope the process will go faster. Any thoughts?

    TIA

    DO NOT USE DAWN.
Between the clay bar and a paint cleaner, you will be fine. If you are dead set on removing the wax before you clay and clean, use something like Body Solvent.

Just let the clay and paint cleaner do their job.

Dont take a step backward with Dawn then 4 steps foward with clay/cleaner/polish/wax. Just take 5 steps forward with yoru GC wash and the full detail.

And no, claying wont go faster/slower due to wax. It will go slower/faster and use different amounts of clay depending on how much bonded contamintants are on the paint, glass, etc.
