What's So Special About This?

I'm not looking to bash on this guy, but I couldn't help wondering as I watched this video what makes his service(s) worth so much more than others. Other than the hand application of the expensive wax, the rest of the process looks pretty much like everything I'm reading about here. ???

LOL!! Yeah, Phostenix, this has been beaten to death in the past.

No doubt the guy has talent (just look at the finished product) and he is dealing with very high end clients for the most part (you need pretty deep pockets to put a Maserati MC12 in your garage!). I guess the bottom line is this - if you could charge that much money for a detail job and you had customers who would happily pay it, why would you charge less? A lot of people will say this guy is nuts or crazy or that his clients must be. But if both parties are completely happy with the transaction then what's the big deal?

isnt this guy "extrememike", or at least he works with this guy. was posting a ton of details in the showoff section. without using any meguiars products, obviously just trying to get himself some free PR on the forum. what the hell is the deal with applying wax by hand!?! like everyone has said he obviously has talent but through youtube and arrogant/ignorant supercar owners his business has really taken off, while im sure most professional detailers could do similar work with an unlimited budget (probably without using a stupidly expensive wax too).

This is all about bragging rights.
If you own a Lambo and you are talking to other owners you state that you have a 5K wax job and then the other guy is not going to admit he has his done for a measly 300 bucks.
If some one started charging 10K they would all go to him.
This is a classic example of more money than brains.

This is very true...I do the same job for a 1996 Honda CR-V and a 2007 BMW M5, but I get paid $20 more for the M5...it's just a customer thing. Obviously their is a difference in the money the guy with the 1 year old 90K car and the 10 year old 30k car, which reflects in the amount I get paid.
