  • How many towels???

How many Microfiber are needed to do a full detail of a car?? (minimum)
How many waffle weave towels needed to Dry the car??
(better to use a chamois or waffle weave?)
Also is the Meg's Super Shine towels needed for the polishing stage??
Lastly, 1 microfiber mitt is enough to wash the whole car right??

Also if you apply the wax by hand...which foam/pad do you use??

How many Microfiber are needed to do a full detail of a car?? (minimum)fficeffice" />

This depends on how much work is actually needed. By that I mean how much paint correction is needed. On a car with a lot of swirls that needed two defect removal steps say #83 followed by #80. I would typically go through about 3 to 4 Meguiar’s Supreme Shine microfibers. Sometimes more if it’s a large SUV or pickup truck.

For the glass cleaning, I usually go thru 2 microfiber towels made for glass. One for cleaning the glass the other for drying.

Then for door jambs another 1 or 2.

For wax removal it usually takes 1 or 2 Supreme Shines. Depends on 1 or 2 coats and size of vehicle.

If you do the interior then add a 1 or 2 more. I use dedicated towels for each part. The Meguiars towels are for the paint. I have some cheapo microfibers for door jambs, dash, seats and really dirty jobs.

If you do the engine bay add a couple more cheapo/old microfibers.

How many waffle weave towels needed to Dry the car??

I would stay away from the chamois. It usually takes 2 waffle weave Meguiars water magnets.

Also is the Meg's Super Shine towels needed for the polishing stage??

    See above

Lastly, 1 microfiber mitt is enough to wash the whole car right??

One would be enough unless it’s really dirty. Just be sure to rinse in a separate bucket. The two bucket method.

Also if you apply the wax by hand...which foam/pad do you use??

The Meguiars yellow high tech applicator pads.

I guess what I'm saying is you can never have to many microfiber towels.

If you have a Costco around you, go and pick up the Microfibers from there. I think the current price and quantity is about $14 for 36 towels. They are very good towels and very reasonably priced.

Also Sam's Club has nice off-brand microfibers that are 25 for $12 or so and they are a decent quality and they won't break the bank. They are square and about 14 in x 14 in. I like them and they are just as good as some of the best stuff out there.

As far as drying, if you have a nice coat of wax and then use the flooding method you only have a few drops to dry off. With the above mentioned microfibers, I just did my car this past weekend with three MFs total.

This is all true, in reality three was stretching it and I was aware of it. I was just too lazy to put all my stuff away and lock up the car to get more from my apartment. It worked none the less. I was more going for the fact that the cheap towels are pretty good too. Either way, that's funny stuff.
