Re: You Guys Are Ruining My Life!
Phostenix, the next step is putting your foot in your mouth like I did.
I went to my local CarMax looking for a car for my step-daughter and the first car we looked at is covered with buffer trails and swirls. I tell the salesman this paint has been wrecked by someone who doesn't have clue how to use a buffer. We get to the next car and it's even worse. (It looks like the one Mike has the pictures of on here.) When we get to the thrid car I'm talking about how bad the paint is then it dawns on me. Carmax is the one doing the damage. Open mouth insert foot. Every car on the lot had the same damage, same pattern. It looked like they used mud for compound at 3000 rpms.
This is an addiction from which there is no cure. Well except for Meguiars products and this forum.

True i even informed my neighbor that it was wrong for him to park his new black Volkswagen under his mango tree. I also advised him to read posts from this forum . When i look at cars in parking areas people may think i want to steal them.yes that's a strong bug.

I'm guessing from the look of them that that are simply the result of 65MPH dust particles. They're not circular or swirls, just straight lines.

If you can see the pattern of them, try to determine if it is something you are doing, or maybe was already there and the dealerships polish is wearing off?
If you can identify it, then you can prevent it in the future hopefully.

Re: You Guys Are Ruining My Life!
So, this morning on the way in I actually saw 3 cars in a row on the freeway without noticeable scratches. Amazing.
Then, I get to work & park under cover, but the sun is shining on the hood. I decided to take a look & see how things are progressing with my 2 week old car. Sure enough, there are several straight front-to-back small scratches developing on the hood. There was even a small straight line dirt mark that looked like a mud ball impact. I'm wearing a white cotton sweater today & while I'm looking at the hood, a white lint ball jumped off my sweater and stuck to the hood! Now it's just mocking me!!
The QUD comes out again tonight....

Re: You Guys Are Ruining My Life!
Welcome to MOL ! I too have been taken by the amount of knowledge here and it has transformed my outlook concerning the vehicles I see. Just last night we were watching the BJ Auction and I was pointing out the massive amount of orange peel on the Hertz Shelby Mustang. This is an addiction - but very satisfying. Enjoy the forum!

Welcome to MOL! I look @ the swirled units as potential customers & hand them my business card if possible.

Car Crazy? Take two teaspoons of NXT and call us in the morning.
JUST KIDDING. LOL, it won't help anyway. I put it in my coffee
Welcome to MOL, you'll find tons of information and some real artists here.

This is just the beginning.I wholeheartedly agree with Mort. My wife and both daughters now look and see swirls and cringe. My youngest daughter, (she's 19) even taught her boyfriend what to look for on car finishes.
You have been bitten by the bug, there is no cure.
