  • Clay bar

I have a question about clay bars. When my wife and I were at the GM Nationals I bought the Meguiars Clay bar kit.Since then I have clay bared her Monte SS 3 times.

My question is,do you use it untill its all gone,or untill it looks dirty.

    Thanks

Until it looks dirty. That can happen with a single treatment if the cars condition is bad enough, or you may get several uses out of a single bar.

You can only drop it on the ground once though because you need to throw it away immediately after picking it up. Once a clay bar has been dropped on the ground never allow it to touch your car again.

      tooomuch7,

When I am using my claybars I will do an area and then flip it over to use the other side. Once both sides are used I will re-need the clay and flatten into a small pancake and continue to clay. When I notice after re-needing that I am unable to get a totally clean clay surface I just toss it and get another piece. I usually use the detailer line fine clay which is a 200g bar and cut it up into thirds so if I drop a piece I am not tossing the entire 200g bar out. You could also cut up the smaller bars to also prevent this from happening to you. To restate this IF YOU DROP IT TOSS IT.

You just keep using it until it doesn't look clean after needing. I used my first bar on about 4 cars and then someone else helping me and learning dropped it. It was tossed after that and a new one was used NEVER try to clean a clay bar after dropping it or try using it again unless you want to learn how to remove scratches from your paint...LOL
