  • Removing bad swirls from a Red 02 Honda Integra Type R

Me and my gf just recently bought a 2002 Red Honda Integra Type R. Being Red you can really see all the swirl marks and scratches from bad washing and drying with dirty sponges and cloths

Im a newbie so im not sure as in what route i should follow.
    I currently have:
    -GMC Random orbital buffer
-Ive ordered Meguiars Speed glaze #80
    -Meguiars Show car glaze
    -Meguiars NXT GEN wax
    -CCS White and black pad
I have yet to buy a CCS Orange cutting pad

Heres some pics of the car

Will Meguiars Speed glaze #80 be aggressive enough to remove my swirls? Ive heard the honda paint is a very soft paint.

In Australia we dont have a wide selection proudcts.
    We have:
    -Swirl Remover 2.0 #9
    -Fine Cut Cleaner #2
    -Medium Cut Cleaner#1
    -Speed Glaze #80

Any help or idea is much appreciated.

The best thing to do when it comes to determining if your car's paint is hard or soft or easily workable is to wait till you actually start working on you car. In the past we've always found the paint on Honda's to pretty easy to work on.

As for pad and product selection you should be able to remove the majority of swirls and scratches out of the paint using the M80 with our W-8006 polishing pad.

Be sure to do a test spot before going over the entire car. Dial in a process that will fix one small area and when you can successfully fix one small are then duplicate the process over the rest of the car.

We don't recommend using cutting pads with dual action polishers as on some paint systems the aggressive cutting characteristics of the type of foam used to make a foam cutting pad will remove the defects but will also leave the paint looking hazy.

Some people figure out how to remove the haze by doing a secondary polishing step but some people don't and that's where the problems begin.

Please read this article before using a cutting pad with a DA polisher and for sure do a test spot first.

      Thanks for ur reply Mike.
What secondary polishing system would u recommend? I have Meguiars show car glaze and Nxt wax, will this be sufficent after using #80 speed glaze?

That really depends on what you're expecting. If speed glaze does the job you want, then showcar glaze would add up more gloss and leave a wetter look. So it may be useful or it may be not depending on how you want your car to look.

As Mike said, once you start working the paint, then you'll start to find out if what you're doing meets your goals and if you need more or less steps and/or products.

        hope this helps.
