Cleaning waterspots...

I just recently bought a new car from a local dealership.The car has been sitting there for a little while and it must have been sitting by some sprinklers at some point.

Because of the color you cant see them very clearly on the paint,although they are there.How would I get rid of these spots?

Also its the same with the windows.Especially the side mirrors.The water spots are pretty bad and Ive tried cleaning them many times.What could I use to get those off?

Im not new to detailing,Ive dabbled a bit in the past.Right now I have a PC 7336,#80,#83,#21 wax,#26 wax and Scratch X.Im just not sure what order to use them in.

Tell the dealer to take care of it. Honestly if its a new car, then they should fix it for free.

Sorry I guess I should have a done a search.

I thought about taking it back to the dealer.The only problem is that everytime I go to the dealer it becomes a giant cluster f$@k!!

Ill probably just try doing it by myself first.

I certainly would not take it back to the dealer to fix it....you would likely have holograms and possibly even worse things to deal with!

If I just spent money on a new car, then I want it perfect. If the dealer doesn't take care of it, then its on to the zone manager. We shouldn't let the dealer out of the irresponsibility or they will keep screwing people over and over.

I agree, in a perfect world it would be like that...but, what are the chances that anyone you go to (even the higher-ups) will have any idea how to get an issue like that fixed?

I haven't ever seen a stealership that had a clue about paint care. All the ones I have seen get an old dirty wool pad and the most abrasive compounds they can find and rip the paint right off the car at 3000 rpms.

Where are you at with this?

Something to think about, if the water spots are Type II

Type I Water Spots - Above Surface Mineral Deposits
Type II Water Spots - Below Surface Water Spot Etchings

Then keep in mind that removing them means removing paint. The deeper they are the more paint you will have to remove to eliminate the etchings.

Hopefully they are just some deposits on the surface and a little ScratchX or Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner will remove them. You can always do a Test Spot using a paint cleaner, simply apply to a small area and work the product then wipe off the excess and inspect.

Does it look better? Finish the rest of the car.
No improvement? Post your results here.

If you do in fact have the Type II etchings, taking it back to the dealership to have them to remove it is also very risky as there tend to be more horror stories on the Internet about DISO, (The Dealer Installed Swirl Option), then there are testimonials about the great work received when a dealership buffs out a car.

Thanks for the reply Mike.

Im pretty sure I have some of type 1 and type 2. It would be hard to take pics.I dont think they would show up very well.The color of the car does hide them,but in certain light you can see them.I tried some Scratch X and it seemed to help,but I think Ill have to break out the PC.I just dont have the time for that right now.

Also,what about the glass.My car is a Nissan Maxima and it has this panaromic roof.It has some pretty bad spots as well as the side view mirrors.What can I use on the glass??
