  • How to get Shaving Cream off a car?

There is no explanation for how mad I am right now.

While my brother was at his girlfriends house in the Liberty, somebody covered it in shaving cream, rubbed it in everything. Instead of telling me, my brother didn't and its dried for a good 12 hours now and its as hard as a rock.

Whats the safest way to remove it and protect the finish again, I'm assuming that it might have stained the clear coat.

That would probably work, but its all as hard as a rock as I mentioned before. I want to find the best solution before I just start trying things.

          Hi Ryan,

So sorry to hear that. I have no idea why some people think that is funny to play jokes like that...In my eyes, that is no joke!

I suggest that you try and soften it with water. If it was me, I would probably head to the local coin wash and spray the Liberty down at a distance (avoid heavy contact until the cream has softened first) with the soap setting. Let the soap sit on there for a few minutes and then rinse carefully.

I do not know of any other way of doing this. My fear however is that if they rubbed the cream in, they will have marred the finish. Hopefully it was clean when they did it...

          Please keep us posted!

Thanks Tim...I have a pressure washer with a soaper, so I'll try that first and see where it gets me. The only problem is like you said was the rubbing in. To my despise the car was very dirty, we've had on and off rain for 3 weeks and I just haven't had the time to do it with school and holiday shopping. I'll go see how the pressure washer does.

            Thanks,
            Ryan

Okay...it all came off the paint no problem, not sure about the marring yet though. The biggest issue is the stuff on the plastic trim. There is a lot of trim and it stained all of it because of the shaving cream. What's the best way to "unstain" it. I was thinking #39 but that more for vinyl, right? Would Gold Class Trim Detailer do the trick?

              Thanks,

I think #39 would be fine I like #40 myself. If all else fails vegetable oil is my new found friend...

Use the #39 followed by Meg's Trim Detailer. Allow the Trim Detailer to set up for about 10 minutes and then wipe down with a dedicated MF towel. That should take care of it!

Half way done with the rotary to remove the stains and marring. Looks great but I haven't touched anything else and I have school tomorrow. I might end up burning the midnight oil to get it done...

Ryan, So sorry to hear about this. I am glad you are getting it back to normal. What poses as someones fun is not when it involves personal property. Glad the damage is not permanant. Good luck finishing it up, keep us posted.

Yea...I'm almost done paint wise, have a couple more panels with M80 on the rotary then time for NXT 2.0. Still have to do all the trim though..ahhhhhhh!!!
