My son's GF just bought a new Honda FIT - takes delivery this Wednesday. After riding in our cars for the last year, she wants the same "Mequiar's Touch" done on her car as soon as she gets it. I would hope that a new car won't have any need for claying or polishing, and was thinking of just applying a coat of 20 or 21, and maybe finish up with quick detail, final Inspection, or the new '129D'. Does this seem reasonable for a new car, or does anyone have a better approach? Thanks for any info.

Re: New Car!
Claying a new car is never a bad idea, and if all is in good shape, only takes 15 minutes or so.
If she would like to keep it as basic and straightforward as possible, I would recommend this:
1. Wash - Gold Class or Nxt wash, good sponges, towels, 2 bucket system.
2. Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit
3. ColorX
4. Wax - #21 is a good choice
5. Maintenance - After future washings, while the wax is still good, you could use any of the Quick Detail type products. Also for removing bird droppings ,etc.
And dont forget windows, trim, tires, wheels... oh the list could go on...
Here are some other good links, maybe even to print out or show her...
Meguiar's 5-Step Paint Care Cycle
Step 1 Wash
Step 2 Clean
Step 3 Polish
Step 4 Protect
Step 5 Maintain

Re: New Car!
New cars will usually need to be clayed. More so depending on how long theyve been on the lot. May be covered in swirls too..
I usually go over the inside also. They are always covered in hand prints. Im not sure if the guy overhauls an engine before moving it around the lots or what, but they are always covered in grease.Current Jeep: 2004 Jeep Liberty with stuff
