  • Best wax for off-roading?

Ive been told that carnuba is the hardest scratch resistant finish you can put on your paint.

Is this true? Or would a synthetic work as good?

What product would provide the best paint protection for brush sliding along the side of a vehicle that is off-road.

I realize most here would never let a bush touch their vehicle's finish, but Hey,
when you are having fun off road, sometimes, you can't miss "every" bush

    Thanks for any advice,
    Joe

There is no way that a microscopic layer of wax is going to protect anything from a branch hitting it.

Your best bet would be one of those clear plastic films by 3M or something.

All you can do is paint correction in that case. I know that for a fact. I go off-roading in the Rocky Mountains every year.
Try a couple coats of #21 sealant followed by a coat of #16, if you can get it. And hope for the best.

There are companies that make magnetic sheets that you can stick on the door panels to protect your car against scratches. Like Murr said, the 3m Protective film might help also.

Search around for the Magnectic Shields...

          Hope this helps!!

Wax offers no scratch resistant finish. That is not the purpose of a wax.

You could always Line-X the whole truck and call it good. No scratches, all you'd have to do is spray it off and cover it in tire shine to make it glow...

              Re: Best wax for off-roading?

Thanks for the ideas guys. Right now Im going to try a synthetic paste wax, that produces a nice slippery finish. The brush I have to deal with should slide off it good enough, since the limbs are fairly flexible.

I was able to compound the last scratches off the clear coat, so I think this plan just may work.

              Regards
              Joe
