  • window water sheeting

Does anyone know of a product that will cause water to sheet off of windows? I generally use rain-x, which is fine for the windshield. My problem is with the mirrors. When you rain-x the mirrors the water beads and impairs your view then it dries and spots. I would also like to use this on my house windows and shower doors. I have done searches and looked around for awhile with no luck. Any help would be appreciated

There's at least one common competitor to Rain-X, can't think of what's called off-hand...

Maybe someone else will chime in...

Aquapel might be what Mike is thinking of. I have some but just never got around to using it, so I can't say how good it will work for you. I just saw some at Harbor Freight the other day for a good price.

Well your mirrors face backwards so no air gets to them to do the removal of the water.
To be extreem, I don't think anything but oil will do that.
You have to have some kind of mechanics to move the water off, (air or you).
I think your asking for a product that lets the water to just fall off?

Aquapel is supposed to be good stuff.

I personally just wipe my windows with Meguiar's UQD whenever I wipe my car down- the results are amazing. No need for Aquapel here...

When I worked at Lexus we sold and applied a product called Diamon Fusion. We had to have one of their professional reps come train us how to apply it, but once they did, it was a peice of cake even though there are several steps. I bet I treated at least 50 winshields during my year there. Took about 30-45 minutes to apply, as it completely tansformed your winshield to where all you had to do to maintain it was apply "Diamon-Keep" to it every few months or so. It was quite expensive, but there is nothing like it. I have tried Rain-X, Aquapel, and UQD... nothing even compared to this stuff. It could be pouring down rain or snow and your winshield wouldn't even know it. I did it to my winshield when I first started over a year ago, and it still has not worn off. All I have to do is wipe the Diamon-Keep on and off every few months or so, and I'm good for another few. I think Lexus charged $500 for the stuff, but you know how dealerships are with their prices, so you can imagine how bad Lexus was. I'm sure if you looked around enough, you could find it somewhere, I have never tried though. The only problem would be knowing how to apply it correctly.

I personally have never had a problem mainly due to the fact that I don't use any type of products like Rain-X but I have been told by others that have used it that their windshield wipers get ruined by using it. It's something about the chemicals that are in the product creating this thin coating on the windshield and when your wipers run they grab some of that film (chemicals) and it destroys the rubber in the wiper. I'm not saying it's a fact but I never wanted to take the chance because it makes sense and it very well could be true. Just my two cents...

That is their main website of course. I have been on it before. I mainly just gives information about the product and tells you that select dealerships carry it and that they are professionally trained to apply it.
