  • Paint on Mercedes

    Hello all,

Do Mercedes typically have hard or soft paint? Thanks.

There is no one answer. It can vary from year to year and what plant your car was made at.

      Yep, it depends.

I just did a CLS500 and the paint was pretty hard. I believe it had the new Nano technology (scratch resistant) paint.

I'll be working on a Black CL430 AMG tomorrow which has a lot of swirl marks but no major defects. I guess I'll find out how hard the paint is... :-)

I have a customer with a black clk430 and it initially had some pretty heavy swirls. It required using the rotary, cutting pad and M83. Finished off with M80 and the PC.

I had to use a rotary + 8006 + M83, and the same combo with M80 on a friend's Infinity G35 couple once... 8 hours later about 40% of the swirls still remained... That was probably the toughest detail I've done so far...
