Black car help. newbie

Hi there,

(dont know if this is in the right section?)

I am a new member from the UK. I have just ordered a new black ibiza fr and before it arrived I wanted to stock up on some new cleaning products etc as I have never had a black car and it is only my 2nd car.

I would like some help on what products to use for a regular/weekly wash as all I have been told so far is shampoo, rinse and dry but on a black car once its dry there is still terrible marks left, I would like a product i could use very regularly after drying my car to just finish it off as polishing it every week from new isnt going to do it any good is it?

any help is much appreciated as I really am stuck!

1st. I f a car wash dude EVER tries to put a brush to your black car...BEAT HIM TWICE W/ THE BRUSH. No brushes on a Black car, EVER, EVER EVER. After your done beating the dude with a brush, go find the owner of carwash with what ever stick remains...

2nd. those endless swirlees that makes your black car look flat black in the sun . . .

Go to your local auto body supply, and ask for "hand glaze"
You will apply this really thin, ( really thin ) and wax off with a cloth diaper. Hand glaze used properly,will fill cavernous scratches in the clear. thin is good. if you see the color of the glaze coming out of the bottle on the paint, you already have enough glaze for 1/2 the car...
Never apply in the sun..never do anything to a black car in the sun. Apply hand glaze to a2'by2' area, keep buffing till it looks soaking wet. The tops will prolly be the worst.. sides are easy.

that awesome soaking wet finish now needs to be sealed. You need a good caranuba wax. you are going to apply a super thin coat of pure caranuba wax.in the shade. your going to wax off with a cotton cloth diaper. you are going to apply another coat of pure caranuba so thin it barely hazes, and wax off with a cotton diaper. Your black cars finish will feel like a smooth bum.

Your black car now glows in the dark. If the car wash dude puts a brush anyplace near your glowing black bueaty..beat him twice. If the beads of water on the car are less than a pence in size, wack on another really thin coat of pure wax in the shade, cloth/cotton diaper off...

Thanks for the replies. Everything is a tad different in the UK so its hard getting hold of the same products you guys use!

limowill thanks for taking time to reply, the product you talk about, is this suitable to apply every 7-10 days? and just after drying? do meguiars do this product

I am so new to this whole cleaning thing, only 19 and you drive at 17 here so its still new. I can wash and dry the car and my problem is once the car is dry and the paint is obviously black, i need a product i can use every 7 days which will clean up all smears from drying etc and water spots and just make the car glisten

Many companies make glazes. Meguiar's makes glazes for both hand and machine application. Meguiar's also calls them "pure polishes". In the thread kellyinkc posted there's a link to Meguiar's 5-Step Paint Care Cycle . Glazes/pure polishes are in step 3.

Part of the whole process is using techniques that don't need to be cleaned up later. As you read through the links you'll see how all that works.
