    PHOTOS ADDED BELOW...

First detail now covered with concrete residue from Ohio DOT's finest

Spent Friday evening and Saturday. Glad I finished with a good coat of #21 on the new Civic Si. It looked fantastic for a few hours until I passed beneath a road construction project and caught some wet-saw concrete residue drippings -- plastered the front and top, and a slight bit through the open sunroof too.

I've called the Ohio DOT and complained and maybe they can put a stop to that. I'll have to recover my work on my own nickel. How should I wash that off?

Very satisfied and now have first hand experience with a variety of the Meguiar's products, including:
    • NXT Car Wash
    • Smooth Surface Clay Kit (all you've said is true... great product)
    • #5 New Car Glaze
    • #21
    • #40 Vinyl/Rubber Cleaner (wiped to leave matte finish)
    • Gold Class Leather Cleaner
    • Gold Class Leather Conditioner
    • Hot Wheels All Wheel Cleaner
    • Hot Tire Shine (pump spay liquid??)
    • Quik-Out Carpet Stain Remover
    • Quik Interior Detailer
All of this was by hand, as I discovered, after masking off, I had a defective backing plate that wouldn't screw into the DAC; bad threads. AutoGeek to replace that by Tuesday.
Took a couple of pics but later discovered a malfunctioning HD on my home computer.

Wow, youve just been having some bad luck!

I would wash the concrete off by just doing a regular wash on the vehicle. I would imagine that would be very abrasive or I would say to just use a QD..

Going to a coin-op place and giving it a good blast of water might be a better option, at least to start, than using a sponge, etc.

        Thanks!

In the overall scheme of things, the bad luck has to do with trival and resolvable things. So I'm thankful of that.

I was thinking about firing up my pressure little Karcher pressure washer for that. Start with minimal pressure and increase a little after removing most of the grit. My sense is that with the fresh #21, the hose nozzle might be enough to do the trick.

I may have misunderstood but its from wet cutting concrete. Then there are to bonding issues to worry about like with wet concrete. It is just water and dust. So if you had a sand and water mix spilled on your car it would be similar. If it was wet concrete, then thats a different story. What ever the case, getting if off sooner than later is always better. I would just use your pressure washer. Just dont wipe the grit around, its pretty course sand. Good luck!

Maybe pour a little soap over the area as well... then give it a good rinse/blast...

Thanks. All is well. Sprayed it well with the hose and gave it a wash with NXT Wash; made a 2nd pass over the affected areas and everything is clean and appears free of any scratches. I hit the interior console with some of the Quik Interior Detailer.

Of course, the neighbors probably think I'm a little nuts...

Here are a few pics of my first detail -- 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan. My new daily driver, only 2 months old. So not a big cleaning challenge, but a good opportunity to get used to the products and the process. LSP is #21 on paint and wheels.

The sun makes this car look gray, and it is somewhat. It's Galaxy Gray, which looks more bronze than I was able to get in the photo. Maybe I'll retry w/o the sun.

Most of the reflection here is from my head, but some from the hood.

Looks nice! That is a sharp looking car!

Hope you don't mind, but I am going to post the full size photos.

Thanks for the compliment and the photo help. It was my first try with the pics and I see now that I posted the thumbs.
