  • Engine dressing.

The other night while checking out detailing shops i noticed this detail shop that uses WD-40 for there engine dressing ill asume they would spray and wipe down everything and hopefully wait till it dried before turning on the engine, but again this is a new one for me. Has anyone done this and or knows if theres somthing in tht product that could weaken the ruber in the hosses or cause damage to nonmetal surfaces? It would be interesting if there was a engine dressing that protected shined everything under hood and prevented corrosion. If theres one out there im not aware of pls reply aswell. thnx

I have heard of it here and there on detailing forums, I have never seem it in photos maybe someone on MOL has seen it? Now I use Hyper-Dressing under the hood, works very well, I spray it on and walk away. I would guess there is no corrosion protection with this process but it looks good!

Rubber and Oil are a bad mix!
WD40 being oil based, I would not use it for an underhood application.
Stick to Hyperdressing or any water based dressing. Remember also not to get any silicon based dressing on your belts. This will cause slipage.
