  • Gasoline on paint..!

I was filling up, the pump didn't click off, yes, I was watching it.
now my paint below gas door, lost it's shine, I tried washing off the gas with washer fluid but didn't help. I think It's permanent flaw now .....or is there a product for this mishap..

Try some DC1 or scratchX, if that doesn't make the job, switch up to a PC and the same products. then Speed Glaze, Then M83, then M80 with a Rotary if you are familiar with the use of it, then M83 with the rotary, then M83 with a rotary and a foam cutting pad, and maybe after that stuff you can see if it's permanent or not, which i guess it shouldn't be. Just try doing it starting with the least aggressive method.

    Hope this helps.

Chances are good that what Chex suggested will work, stains like this when they happen to clear coat paints tend to be topical where with older single stage paints they tended to penetrate further into the paint.

This happened to me once when I was filling up;luckily I was coming home from work, so I went home right away and washed my car and the gas stain came right off. If a simple washing doesn't work, try Scratch X. The gas stain should come off. I hope you get it off.

If you spill gas on the paint, while at the gas station try and wash it off. I always keep towels with me in case something happens. The wax will be gone, but that is easily replaced when you get home.

As for the original poster, take some ColorX and a piece of 100% cotton Terry toweling and work the product into the paint and then remove with a MF towel. That should fix the area.

tim, just asking hypothetically, because i'm sure its happend.

what if you spilled it and washed it right away with soap and water?

that is the best thing to do right. then apply wax or wait till your next detail to do it.

Yes...wash it right away. Like I said, carry some towels with you and then if you need to run into the washroom at the gas station and soak the towel and then wipe off the area carefully. Keep in mind that if there is dirt around the area to wipe gently as you will mar the finish. You could also use a Quik Detailer to remove the gas until you get home. I always keep Last Touch Foam in my vehicles just in case... I would re-wax ASAP as the wax in that area will be gone.

Yea, that happens to me all the time. Im not sure if it has something to do with the pumps at BP, or my Jeep, but I now keep some Mf's, QD, and cleaner wax with me at all times. The gas will take ALL the wax off your paint.
