How much 'wax' can your paint hold ?

In a few threads it has been mentioned that your finish can only hold so much before any additional coats are a waste of time and money. I know that there are no two finishes that are the same but how can you tell when your finish has reached its limit? What is it that you look for?

Don't know if there's any kind of visual indicator that will distinctly show you all the surface is 100% covered with a coating of wax that's why Meguiar's recommends applying two thin coats of wax instead of one.

The idea being that if you do a good job applying both coats chances are very high that after you're done 100% of the surface will have been protected.

Two, thin coats are the way to go for sure. I also love to use a machine to apply it with. Very uniform this way.

I agree two thin coats is enough. I can't believe you would miss the same area twice.
