    Re: Rain-x

If you apply it properly, it works absolutely perfect. RainX got a bad rep because people weren't applying it right.

    Here is what I do...

Make sure you are in the shade (I know this is a normal detailing thing, but it is VERY important to applying RainX. If you are in the sun, it will bake onto the windshield and be a PITA to remove.)
    Wash windshield.
    Clay Windshield.
    Wipe with alcohol.
Apply RainX with terry cloth in cirular motions and let haze.
Buff off with microfiber.(Don't worry about getting all the haze off)
Here is the key - apply a second coat of RainX with a terry cloth and let haze.
    buff off with microfiber.
You will find that the second haze is WAY easier to remove. It will be easy to make the windhield completely clear.

    This always works for me.

Hmm.. maybe I will have to look into a second coat, esp if it is easier to remove. Makes the water roll off even esier as well?

Water roll off isn't significantly better, but it is better. However, I do find that it makes for a more even coat...makes removal easier...lasts longer...doesn't streak...and no wiper chatter.

Has anyone tried any of their bug removal / shield products at all? I always liked bug and tar gels, wonder how it works.

And I am not sure what was meant by trying the 'glass wax' instead of the treatment. I dont see a glass wax?

              Re: Rain-x

I have been using Rain-X, WOW, since 1987, and I have never stopped using it for the windshield. The product is awsome. Never used any other stuff for car detailing. Also is a great solvent to remove some grime from the paint finish. In addition their windshield washer solution and additives are great stuff, specially in extreme winter driving conditions.

                Re: Rain-x

                I can't stand the stuff...

First, it does little or no good in my cars unless I'm going at least 50 MPH, which I rarely do.

Secondly, once it starts to wear off the wipers chatter like crazy. And, there is basically no fix except to apply more rain-x or replace the wiper blades.

I've found Liquid Glass to be much better for the windshield. I don't use it on the paint anymore, but it is great for the windshield. And, the best thing is I've never had a chatter problem with Liquid Glass. It also makes the glass much easier to clean stubborn bugs off of.

                    Re: Rain-x

I've tried Rain-X winshield treatment, wiper fluid, and wiper baldes. I just love the first 2 but think the wiper blades were too cheaply made(didnt work very well and didnt last very long, how ironic).

But just as jared767 said, if you live in Washington Rain-X is godsend.

Airplanes tend to travel at somewhat higher speeds compared to cars. Therefor the water roll-off might be better on the window of an airplane.

They still taxi on and off the runway. They still take-off and land. They still fly at low altitudes. It's more about the bug removal than the water...

Just letting everybody know that i used some RAIN-X windshield wax, after using there other products, i can honestly say that it is the easiest and fastest product. I applied it, let it haze(took 30 sec!) and wiped it off. It wiped off like a dream, I didnt have to sit and struggle wipping like there other products. Im not sure if this is as good as there other products though, i do know it is their most expensive product, so i would assume its good. It might rain in a few days, if it does ill let you guys know how well it works.

I have tried it, works very similar to RainX, application is different, Aquapel is a single use applicator, easy to apply and remove if you follow instructions.
It so far has not caused any wiper chatter, and does last much longer. It is more expensive to use, 1 applicator will cover windsheild, or two side windows, not enough to treat entire vehicle.
