You said it was #2 Fine Cut Cleaner in your second post?

Now you say it's Diamond Cut Compound?

You say it can be used by hand? Where did you learn this? It's not on the label, on the website or in the catalog?

Just to clear this up, Neither the M84 or the M85 compounds are formulated for or recommended for application by hand but are for use with a rotary buffer only.

At this point, we couldn't stand behind any results you're getting, this is the wrong product for the job. If you're working by hand, the the correct product would be ScratchX.

If ScratchX by hand isn't getting the job done, then we would recommend a product from our Professional Line applied by machine.

Application of the product sounds right, but not after appling M85 by hand.

The problem still lies at the first step, so we can't stand behind any results, or lack of results you're seeing.

As long as the car has been under cover and is not dirty you can apply the second coat of wax without washing. If the car has been driven or parked outside then you'll wan't to wash the car or wipe the car clean using a quick detailer before applying any more wax, the idea being not to take the chance or risk of applying wax to the paint when there may be dirt on the paint and possibly instill swirls or scratches into the paint.

For removing light dust, fingerprints and smudges, any of our quick detailers will work great.

For applying a quick coat of wax in-between normal washing and normal waxing you can use either of our spray-on waxes.

A long time assuming it's glossy when you're done with the waxing step.

By the way, what are you working on?

Is the paint that bad to warrant such an aggressive product? Did you try something less radical first, like scratch x, m80 or even m83?

Take a moment to read the back label of the #2 and where it tells you how you can apply it look to see if it says Rotary Buffer Only, or if it states you can apply by Hand, DA Polisher or Rotary Buffer.

There was a formula change recently to enable this product to be applied by hand but there are still a lot of bottles of this out there that are the old formula that should only be applied using a rotary buffer.

    Let's investigate this first.

One other thing, since neither cleaner or polish gace any gloss, did you buff the products off after applying, before they dried? Or what did you buff with?

    Thanks
    Kind of but it depends.

With the Meguiar's line of products, each step in a multi-step process should make the paint look better, that is if you start out with an ugly paint job, that is dull and scratched up and use one of our paint cleaners, compounds or cleaner/polishes on it, it should look a lot better when you're done.

Next if you re-polish it with a less aggressive product it should look even a little more better.

Next if you apply a pure polish it should start really looking good and after that when you seal your hard work with one of our premium waxes it should even look a little better.

    My questions would be
    • What are you working on?
    • What condition is/was the paint to start with?
    • What did you do for prep?
    • What chemical did you use?
    • How did you apply the chemical

Let's trouble shoot this from the beginning and we're sure we can see you through to success.
