#9 is in the Mirror Glaze line of product, is slightly less abrasive than #82 and can be applied by hand.

#82 is in the Body Shop Professional line of products and should be applied by PC, orbital or rotary. (Although I've read some using it by hand. If so, it would be a lot of hard work)

A great finish begins with the right start!

      Hey,

If you have slight hazing after the #83, then as another poster pointed out, it probably was not broken down far enough. However, on darker colors, I always do recommend following the #83 with #82 Swirl Free Polish. With #82, remember to remove it while still damp.

Good luck and keep us posted!!

        Tim and fiberrich,

Your posts are exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
Suggesting products to use and also how to apply; PC speed and what it should look like when cured.

I was also questioning the differences between #9 and #82. When Mike first responded to this thread I was thinking he may suggest MPPC or #9 instead of the 83/82/81. It is very confusing trying to decide what products to buy and use. As much as I would like to have them all, I don't think it would be very prudent. Unfortunately what may be perfect for one of my cars may not be for another.

Mike, if you get a chance I am still interested in your suggestions. I would really like to place this order soon.

          Hey,

Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner is more of a chemical cleaner. As such, I have found it to work really well when dealing with bird etching etc. on BC/CC. As was pointed out, Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover 2.0 is slightly less aggressive than #82 Swirl Free Polish. I have also found that #82 holds a slight advantage when being applied with a rotary buffer.

          Cheers!

            whoo, a shelby, mach1, and new f150!

just my $.02 - from looking at the pictures in your gallery, it looks similar to what i had on my mach1. i was able to get them out by using #80 Speed Glaze. i experimented and found CMA's cutting pad (yellow) to work: speed 4, slow passes with some pressure (hand slightly pushing on the PC head) until it started looking clear, then kicked the speed up to 6 for a couple more passes, then wiped off with a MF towel.

Speed Glaze seems to be good at eliminating light swirls, and also leaves the paint glossy, sorta combining two steps. if you do try Speed Glaze, you might want to first try it out with a polishing pad, and see how effective it is. if it works, stick with the polishing pad. if not, maybe step up to the cutting pad, or try something else like DACP and a polishing pad. and work Speed Glaze until it starts looking clear, don't wait until it starts dusting because it doesn't dust like DACP does.

i haven't posted anything on how good #80 + a PC works on swirls, although i did get good results with it by hand!

but keep us informed of how it goes, post pictures when you're done, good luck, and ask questions if you're still unsure.
            and nice cars!

              Hi Reid,

Thanks for the compliment and suggestion. I've already placed my order so I'll be using the process I outlined above, more or less. I've been able to obtain additional information by searching through the archives, as well as from other sites.

I will be posting my results and pictures.

              Wish me luck!!!

What if, instead of using DACP you use #2 Fine Cut Cleaner then follow up with #9? Or is this process just redundant since #2 is already a swirl remover? I was checking out the label and found out the DACP is more aggressive than #2. I think DACP is at the same level with #1 right(in terms of aggressiveness)?

What would be a good polish to follow up #2? Can #7 or DCS Polish do the joband then follow it up with NXT?

Meguiar's #2 Fine Cut Cleaner is for rotary use only.

Meg's #83 DACP is the strongest product designed to be used with a rotary, DA, RO, or by hand.
