    Having trouble w/ Scratch-X

    Two problems I'm having.

    I can't tell when it's been worked in enough.
    I read the post from Mike, where he states,

    "Apply until what starts out to be an opaque/whitish film turns to an oily looking film then remove."

    The thing is that it seems to turn oily-looking almost immediately.
    I even worked it in for a long time to see if it changed appearance further, but it didn't seem to.
    Maybe I'm not able to work it in because I've put on too much product?

    How long does it usually take you guys until the product has broken-down?

    2nd problem: my applicator seems to get full of product, do I need to start using a new one?
    By full, I mean that it seems so absorb the product like a sponge & then when I'm pressing down hard, working the product, I seem to be releasing more product from the app. pad.

    If it helps, I'm not working just a single scratch, but the whole hood of a car, which had a bunch of holograms in it.

    You have to use some elbow grease for sure. I just work a small section at a time and work it in until its pretty much clear. Sounds like your working too big of an area and you're not giving the diminishing abrasives enough time to break down. I would think doing too large of an area, you would constantly be spreading it around. In return, its not giving the abrasive a chance to do its magic. Hope that helps some.

      Yeah , do a small area at a time. I only do an area of about 6x6 inches, I also use a small piece of terry towel, it seems to have a bit more bite and yes it clogs but I have cut up an old towel and just get a new piece when the one i am using clogs.

        Another thing, don't expect it to work magic the first time. You may have to do one spot 4 or 5 times before it looks good.
        Just to give you an idea, I did my hood with ScratchX and it took me 5 hours, which includes a few coats of polish and wax.
