  • After rain cleaning

I just spent a few days washing and waxing my car and it turned out great. Now it rained today and it looks like ****. What is the best way that I should go to keep it clean. I have to do everything at one of those drive-in wash stations.

    Thanks

Tough situation, as a native of Oregon we feel your rain, whoops, we mean we feel your pain...

There is no easy solution if you have to drive to a do-it-yourself car wash to wash your car, about the only other option is to inspect the finish after the rain and see how dirty the car looks from the dirt in the rain left on the car. If it doesn't look too bad you could wipe the car down with a quick detailer, but you have to make that judgment call after your evaluation.

If you do choose to wipe your car down with a quick detailer, use it generously and use extra microfiber polishing cloths to wipe down the finish, turning them and folding them often and swapping out used ones for fresh ones, doubling up on microfibers and using plenty of quick detailer should work pretty well as long as the car is not car wash dirty.

So if I was going to drive to the car wash. Do you think that a real quick was would get the shine back? Lots of water and maybe a quick scrub and dry. I'm thinkin maybe 15 minutes.

Sure it would! As long as you use good soap that doesnt take the wax back off. All of meguiars soaps are wax safe.

ONR. I use it right after a rain, if I don't have to drive too many miles on a wet road.

Sure this will work but remember that anytime you wash your car it's going to wear some of the wax off, it's certainly not adding more wax if you think about it.

You are exactly right Mike. I use this process on my daily driver that sets outside 24/7.
