  • Just rear-ended. Looking for good body shop in San Diego

My BMW was rear-ended today. I'm so mad and stressed right now. I've already ranted on another forum about the @$$ that hit me while i was at a red light so I'll save that for now. There was damage to the rear bumper and it needs to be repaired and painted and the moldings replaced.

Can someone recommend a really good auto body shop in san diego? i'm worried about having to write a horror story here about how they installed their swirls and mismatched color.

    any help appreciated.
    thanks.

Did you ever locate a good body shop and get your car fixed?

If not, maybe someone from that area can chime in?

        If you are still looking for a good body shop, I can recommend;
        Greenwald's Autobody & Frameworks
        1814 Roosevelt Ave
        National City, CA 91950
        (619) 477-2600

They also have another shop in Chula Vista, but I have always used the original in National City. I have two teenagers and a wife who always seem to find some reason or another for me to have to pay them a visit.

Aundrea, is the original owners (Dan) daughter who runs the NC shop and his son runs the CV shop, David is one of the estimators that can help you out if you can't speak directly with Aundrea. Tell them Jack Ezroj sent you, I am sure you will be very happy with their service.

BTW, most of the insurance companies use the NC facility as their mobile office space, they are very well known and do quality work.

Gee... Where were you guys a month ago when I was in panic mode? I shopped around and went to several places. My major concern was having the color of the bumper match the rest of the car. So every place I went to had kind of a "well.... you shouldn't notice a difference" type of reply. So after looking for a week I found a place called "Amatos". When I went there it seemed to be a very high end place. There were Ferrari's and Lamborghini's being worked on. I even saw a Maserati there. So I decided to go with them. I would have preferred trying a recommended place like the one's you guys suggested but I didn't get any feedback when this happened a month ago.

Anyway, I made an appointment and the first availability was Feb 2nd. They quoted me 3 days of labor but after I dropped it off I found out that the car would actually have to be there for 2 weeks.
I get the car back next Thursday.

I told them 3 times to please not wash it so I hope that they honor that. They seemed shocked that I didn't want it washed and kept saying "Don't worry. we know how to wash a car".

So we'll see how it goes when I get it back next week. I hope the color of the new bumper matches. That would s**k if it doesn't. I miss my car.

BTW, this is in San Diego.

          Thanks.
