How do the two compare? I`m noticing some improvement in my trucks swirls with Scratch-X by hand but the amount of time I would have to devote to it is more than I have right now. Would Fine Cut be a bit of a stronger swirl remover or would it be just like using Scratch-X? The only machine I can get to is one of those cheap little wimpy orbitals.

Re: Fine Cut Cleaner compared to Scratch-X
#2 is quite a bit more aggressive than Scratch X. Scratch X is best used for touch ups on small areas. #2 can be used with a PC and works quite well.

Re: Fine Cut Cleaner compared to Scratch-X
My swirls are finally coming out thanks to #2!I`ll post before/after pics later.
I asked for the Porter Cable random orbital sander/polisher and gave them the 7424 number. Both just said they didn`t carry it. They had other similar products but I didn`t want to buy something and then find out it wouldn`t work with the right backing plates and pads.1986 4Runner 4wd

Re: Fine Cut Cleaner compared to Scratch-X
Also remember that the PC originally started out as a tool for sanding wood, so most hardware store employees will probably know it as a wood working tool, not a car polishing tool.
If you explain it to them in these terms, then they will likely understand what you're looking for, if you refer to it as a tool for polishing paint, unless they're members of MOLthey're likely to not put it together and figure out what you're looking for.

The stock number at Lowes is 51472 for the PC7336SP. They are being discontinued and are referred to as "non-stock". Call the store you went to, ask for tools and ask them to check their computer inventory for that stock #. Ask them to check other Lowes inventory and note where they are. Qty of 1 indicates it is their display. I got a display for $25 from the manager. The Meg's backer and pads fit it fine. If you locate it at a distant store, and the price is right, buy 2 and sell one here or on ebay. good luck!

Re: Fine Cut Cleaner compared to Scratch-X
Found 3 pcs each at 2 area Lowes and not only do they price match but they take 10% off. I found that receipt at that other forum that I asked you about in the pm so don`t worry about responding. The Lowes around here still have them at $119 so that receipt is going to save me a lot. Thanks so much for posting about it. The guy on the phone was amazed at the price difference when I told him.1986 4Runner 4wd

Re: Fine Cut Cleaner compared to Scratch-X
Well, everything is being put on hold as my truck was broken into last night. The window is busted but everything else is fine. They took the faceplate to my stereo but couldn`t manage to wrench the main part of it out.It looks like they got interrupted because my glovebox with my wallet sitting right in front(never leave your wallet in your car!) wasn`t even opened. Overall it could have been much worse but it still *****.1986 4Runner 4wd
