  • Need a ok for my process of detailing!! =)

Ok, So now it's holiday time, and the festivity has left, I have more time to protect my toy.. I have a 06 Black Volkswagen Polo GTI, and I love it as much as I love my kids( That is if I have any) Anyway, Just need to hear an ok, or go-ahead from the pro's.

Ok, Here's My method /. Product I am using

Well, typical, gona wash the car first...

    THEN,
    2. i am planning on using the Quik Clay to clean the surface,
For this step, i have a question, can i use a clean bucket of washing detergent as the lubrication? or should i stick with the quick detailer bottle that came with it?
    3. Then i am planning on polishing the surface, one coat possibly, with Show Car Glaze (#7).
    4. Wax: For my waxing, I have the Hi-Tech Yellow Wax, i am thinking of applying two layers, and then I am planning on applying the last layer with Hi-Tech Yellow Wax.

From my doofus period of waxing, i accidentally left some last time, which left some white marks. i read that you can use "oil" or cleaning detergent to get rid of it. so that's what i am going to try do.

So, just wondering, does that sounds ok?

Another question that i have is that, some little F*** chipped my paint, now,if i were to get it fixed by a detailer, does all these detailing would hav an effect on it?

    THAnks in ADVANCE!!!
    and
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! =)

If you're not super careful you run the risk of catching an abrasive particle into the process and scratching your paint. In order to use soapy wash water to clay a car, every thing has to be absolutely clean. We've had people come on this forum and ask how to remove scratches they've put in from claying with their wash water. The problem is usually some type of abrasive particle on the car that was not completely rinsed off and it gets trapped in your clay, or possibly an abrassive particle in your bucket. If you can work absolutley clean you can do it this way, but the no-brainer way is to use the Quik Detailer after washing and drying the car.

If your car's paint needs to be clayed, chances are good it needs to be cleaned with a paint cleaner before applying a pure polish like #7 which in and of itself offers no cleaning ability. Try Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner or ScratchX after claying. Then polish with #7 and then wax. One application of polish is all that is needed.

Which products need to dry before removing?

If you haven't read this, the please do so before working on your car.

Two thin coats allowing each to dry until it swipes clear then remove.

If you mean you've gotten wax on trim and allowed it to dry and now you want to get it off because it's unsightly, then our M39 with a toothbrush works pretty good. Others use peanut butter, but it's actually only the oil you see sitting on the top of the peanut butter that does the work so you could use vegatable oil and avoid the peanut part.

Look into getting it fixed first and see if you can even find someone that will do rock chip repair at a price your willling to pay. Chances are you won't find anyone. So do it yourself or let it go and detail your car as you're planning and address it later.

Ok. so, i woke up this morning, (well i didn't sleep, but lets just say i did) and thought it is a cloudy day, i decided to detail my car. well, after 3 hours worth of washing and claying and ....etc it is now a shiny little black beast. =) i decided that i didn't really need to use wax cleaner cuz the surface is still pretty good. But other then that, i followed pretty much everything mike has suggested.

The only problem is, it is starting to drizzle outside (i was waxing and polishing in my garage). so i can't get some good picture to show off my good-ish / excellent work!!!

SSSOOooo, as soon as the sky clears up. i'll grab a few photos

Many thanks to mike for his wisdom of information
