Don't think of it so much as "buffing" as simply "removing" the hazed excess wax. And you are correct; you let a wax dry and THEN remove the excess. But letting it dry usually means 15-20 minutes, not 15-20 HOURS!

No, my earlier post reads as follows:

    1. apply very thin coat of wax
    2. allow to haze for 15-20 minutes (check using the swipe test) and remove
    3. wait approximately 12 hours and repeat steps 1 & 2 above
This means apply a coat, wait 15-20 minutes and remove, then wait 12 hours and apply a second coat, wait 15-20 minutes and remove.

Mike Phillips made a great suggestion about you attending a Saturday class at Meguiar's. I've been to several of these and have learned a ton of invaluable information, and continue to pick up new tips and learn new things with every session. If you are anywhere at all nearby I really think you'd enjoy attending and I know you'd learn a lot. It's a great experience.

We've had people drive from as far away as St. George, Utah and absolutely loved the class, so plan your driving time accordingly.
You people don't know how lucky you are to have an opportunity like that. I wish we did here in Aust.

Trust me Graeme, there are plenty of use here in SoCal who are not only aware of how lucky we are, but are thankful not only for the opportunity but also for the new friends we've made in the process. There's sort of a core group of us who turn up at most of the Wednesday night sessions and the open clinics on Saturdays, not to mention the occassional extreme makeover. I constantly marvel at the fact that Meguiar's does this in the first place, but it actually is brilliant when you think about it!!

It would excellent if we had an opportunity to actually see and be taught in person.
