  • Feathering effect???

I'll try and explain this as best as I can.
Just finished a black Viper last night. The paint was in excelent shape outside of a few swirls(which were removed yesterday).

My question is, before I touched the car, it has a crystal clear finish on it aside from the few swirls. Where there were no swirls you could see a perfect black finish. I went over the entre car with 80 and a 8006 pad, then waxed with 26 and a 9006 pad 2 times, and removed the wax with a 7006 pad with a microfiber bonnet. Now it has a sort of feathering effect all over the entire surface. It's not anything real negative looking. The owner said he could hardly notice, but it was plain as day to me. It was only noticable when you were up close, but it was there.

Any ideas on what this could be? I haven't ever noticed it before this car, and the paint surface was pretty hard on this Viper.

I couldn't get a good picture of it. I have some of the car, but not the effect that I'm talking about.

    Thanks
    Nick

What do you mean by "feathering effect?" Could you give more detail about what you mean by this term.

sounds like you may not have worked the 80 all the way.

I really don't know how to explain it. It just sort of looks like a small pattern of feathers. It's consistant throughout the entire vehicle.

I worked the 80 in pretty good. At least 4 passes in each direction, then wipe it off. I've used 80 on many many cars before this and never really noticed it before. Maybe it was always there, just the Viper's paint made it stand out a little more?

I realy wish I could capture it in a picture. But it just won't show. Guess it's a little camera shy

Did you go over it with QD just to see if that did anything?
