    Re: Foam Gun

    Well, that video definately looks different than what I do. I just put 5 or 6ish so ounces of soap on, and fill up with water, and put it on the lowest dilution setting. I get a lot more foam than that, and only work panel by panel.

    The only catch is that on a well waxed car, the foam will still tend to slide off (at least with the Gilmour one), so I tend to spray the panel, then 'catch' the foam with the sponge and wash the panel. Then rinse the sponge, etc.

    Is the Karcher one the pressure washer one? Maybe that makes it stick more?

      Re: Foam Gun

      [QUOTE=ZoranC;150763]Thanks for posting it! I was hoping for more foam but it will still do, because what I am looking for is to speed up and simplify the wash process as too much of it is hard on my back.[/QUOTE

      Foam generation will depend on soap used (hence the bug squash does not foam but lifts off the dirt( best stuff I ever seen for salt,and losen the bug guts)

      also when using the foam gun you eally don't want a lot of foam, your trying to get the suds to lay on the car or truck longer so they will soak in (called contact time). then the soap will do the work lifting the dirt off instead of scrubing the dirt off

      if you look at waht the foam guns are really used for

      from gilmore's site

      Applications

      * For cleaning, degreasing or disinfecting when a foam is desired to increase surface contact time
      * Supermarket and packing house meat cutting rooms and equipment
      * Food handling and preparation areas
      * Institutional, industrial, or public restrooms, shower rooms, and locker rooms
      * Animal cages
      * Dairy equipment
      * Trucks, cars and other equipment

          Many pressure washers are made with hose to attach to a soap source, turning your pressure washer into a foam gun as well.

              Hi Jay,

              I agree with you about not wanting "big" foam, the same applies to the wash bucket aswell in my opinion

              "What am I using" it's Autoglym Powermax3 which doesn't strip wax as some do

                    More lifting of dirt is what I had in mind when wishing for more foam. From reading around I was thinking that's what more foam does, based on descriptions by other people and based on my thinking it is foam that lifts more as rich light bubbles would stay on longer than heavier mixture that would slide. Where I might be incorrect? What would be correct description of difference between suds and foam?

                    Would then best (but not fastest) process be soak with watter, spray with bug squash and let it soak to lift the dirt off, lay on foam (without bug squash) and let it drain to take lifted dirt away, rinse with water, then mitt wash spraying with foam along the way?

                    Thank you!

                      question why add water to the soap the foam gun does that for you.

                        The soap just seemed to thick with the tube... water it down, have it flow through easier.

                          bubbles look great but really don't contact surface area, think like your washing your clothes do you make suds in washer or bubbles .....

                          the only reason I mix the sss and bug squash 50/50 is to keep cost down, the bug squash is $$$$ but works so good its worth every penny and by using the foam gun it cuts down on product being used. bought the foam gun with bug squash as the primary use for it. so why would I make washing car/truck any harder spray the bug squash on with the foam gun and you can see the salt drip right off

                              Bubbles! Bubbles? OK No more fun with bubbles, suds good, bubbles bad

                              Bad analogy, you are talking to a single guy that just throws them all in the washing machine on same setting, slams the door and pushes the button.

                              I have never tried bug squash. Does it dry paint? Does it take off protectants? If it is so efficient in taking dirt off I would like to try it undiluted as it is incredible how much dirt accumulates on cars in area my girlfriend lives in in just a week.

                                Wait a sec, if suds good bubbles bad then my head is spinning in confusion as I am reading description of DP Xtreme Foam Formula. First it says "bubbles work to encapsulate oily residue and dirt even before your mitt touches the paint". Then later it says "high viscosity of DP Xtreme allows the suds to cling to the vehicle in order to begin grabbing dirt and oil on contact". And later "builds thick, multi-tiered bubbles that work to lift dirt and grime off the surface". ARGH! Which one is it? Bubbles? Suds? Suds? Bubbles?
