  • Getting ready to buy a G-100...

I am getting ready to buy the G100 from Meguiar's, and wanted to make sure I get everything right beforehand. FYI, money is not really an issure here, because our company is building up right now and we have saved up to really get started. Basically I want to buy the right products for the best results. So here it goes:

    1. I am planning on buying just the base #1 kit from ADS, because we have lots of tech wax, or otherwise I would get #2. Since this already comes with 1 W-8006 pad, I was thinking of getting the $50.00 pad kit that comes with 2 polishing pads, 2 finishing pads, and 2 cutting pads. We really only need 1 cutting pad for putting a bonnet on, but it is still a better deal this way. Is that the best way to go?

    2. #80 is definately on my list, but should I get 32 Oz. or a Gallon? I'm thinking 32 Oz. will do for a while, but I guess you can never really have eneough.

    3. A lot of our customers just want cleaner wax's, and so I'm thinking #66. Would this be ok?

    4. I'm not sure if we should get a little bit of #83, because obviously it's a must for most detailers, but should we just stick with what #80 will do for us right now? Should we get our technique down before going to something that aggresive?

    5. What other products would you suggest?

Well that's pretty much it as far as the G-100 goes. I have the other stuff covered such as clay, towels, brushes, etc. I also bought Mike and Rick's video, and I watched it yesterday. And I must say, I don't think I've ever learned so much during a day of school! That video was awesome! My hat is off to you guys.

Thanks everyone for reading this and helping me out,
    Kyle

Well, here's some thoughts... it sounds like you are starting a bit of a detailing busines, but I'll try and answer for both situations, just incase...

    1. If you notice, you can select which pads you want in the 6-pad set. Just have to contact Rick and specify 1 cutting pad, and whatever else. Though if you are starting a sizeable business, you may want several spares of each pad anyway.

    2. Again, for a company, get plenty of both #80 and #83. For personal use, a gallon of #80 and smaller squeeze bottle would be good, and a smaller #83.

    3. Yes, #66 is good for one-step customers.

    4. I'd say get the #83 now. Obviously, you should learn how to use it before using it on customers cars, but if your first customer needs #83, then you better have it and know how to use it.

    5. Depends on your customers. If they are going ot be mostly quick stuff, then not much else. I like #21, but you say you have Nxt already. Now, if you have some customers who want "complete" details, then you will need clay, a detailer spray in bulk, and a pure polish like #7. The Detailer Line glass cleaner, APC, dressings, etc would also be wanted to do a complete job.
