You must decide after analyzing your paint. You should read the how-to articles on this website. They are really worth reading. More than once.

If you polish your paint with a cleaner polish like this, yes but only to a point:

Which cleaner/polish to use depends on the condition of your paint. They are available with different levels of abrasives. (See the red arrow on the bottle?)

You apply these products until you achieve a smooth, defect free paint surface. You want to use the LEAST ABRASIVE PRODUCT that accomplishes this. THEN STOP and apply wax.

You misunderstood me.. If I rub much with the polish will it give a higher gloss?

Yes, after you rub all the paint off your car, the metal will shine more.

Apply a THIN coat of wax.

    Let it dry.

    Remove the residue.

If you continue to rub or "polish" the wax after removing the residue, you will just rub off the wax.

Silver polishing is NOT a good comparison. Silver polish has abrasives. Wax does not (if any "experts" are reading this, please don't confuse WestDK by pointing out minute amounts of cleaners or fillers in waxes).

Cleaner/polishers like 83/80/82 are better compared to silver polish. Silver polish's abrasives remove scratches. The more you polish, the more silver is removed and the scratches dimminish. Polish long enough using enough silver polish, and you will remove enough silver around the scratch to bring the surface of the spoon down to the level of the scratch and the scratch "disappears".

Shine requires a perfectly smooth surface. Ceaner/polishers are used to make paint perfectly smooth.

Hey, it looks like I was the only person who actually read and understood WestDK's posts/questions. Quick! Somebody wake Barry up and tell him I'm available to take over European marketing to increase sales by a minimum of 600%.

    West DK,

You need to read the how-to sections of this website. Surface cleaning and preparation are the key to a show car shine. http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2409

Washing your car will not get it completely clean. You must use clay.

Cleaner/polishes like #83/#80/#82 applied with the correct pads using an orbital buffer will remove surface defects like scratches and swirls.

Wax does not remove surface contaminents or defects.

READ THE INFORMATION IN THE LINK ABOVE.

Go to Meguiars.com for product information.

After waxing, you can apply #7 Showcar Glaze on top of the wax to increase the shine, but this product is not long-lasting as it is intended to maximize shine for car shows etc.

    Yeasterday I did the following:
    1. I washed the car.
    2. Used Deep Crystal Polish to polish the paint and get a nice shine
    3. Applied Gold Glass Liquid Car Wax to give shine
    4. Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax to give protection and shine

And i can't really see much difference when standing on the side.. I can see a little at a distance but perhaps in my head because I know I did one side..
But.. When I'm sitting in the car and looks in the side mirrors.. The left side I haven't done and the right I have..
When I look at the lfet and the right I really CAN see a difference..
The green is much more powerful and rich and shiny on the right side but when I get out of the car I can't see it anymore..
    Isn't that weird?

I want her to sparkle and shine like a diamond and like "my precius"
I'd like to clearly understand exactly what you are doing.

    My understanding is that you:

    1. Wash your car.

    2. Apply wax.

    3. Remove wax after it dries.

    4. Use a "polishing machine" on the paint AFTER removing the dried wax.

    5. Apply another coat of wax.

    6. Remove wax after it dries.

    7. Use a "polishing machine" on the paint AFTER removing the dried wax.

    8. Repeat steps 5, 6, and 7 in an effort to increase the shine.

If I got that right, I think there may be a slight communication problem here.

Typically, obtaining a clear, deep shine involves the following steps.

    1. Wash.

    2. Use clay to remove contaminents on paint.

    3. Use a cleaner-polish like Meguiar's #83, #80, or #82 (different levels of abrasives) to remove surface defects like swirls and scratches. (Use an orbital buffer.)

    4. Apply a sealant like Meguiar's #21, Nxt High Tech Wax, or a wax like Meguiar's Gold Class Wax.

    5. Let sealer or wax dry and remove with micro fiber cloth or bonnet on orbital buffer. THIS STEP DOES NOT INVOLVE "POLISHING" THE SEALANT OR WAX. You are just removing the dried wax or sealant, NOT BUFFING IT.

    6. Apply second coat of wax or sealant to make sure you get complete coverage. Remove when dry. Again, you are not "polishing" or buffing the wax/sealant. You are just genly removing the dried product.

If you "polish" wax with a "polishing machine" you are just rubbing the wax off the paint.

To make your paint shinier, you need to remove surface defects like swirls and scratches. To do this, you must use a product with abrasives in it to level the paint surface.

When removing defects, you may be able to obtain a better paint surface by moving from more abravise to less abrasive products. For example: #83, then #80, then #82. (Much like using sand paper on wood, you start with a rough paper and move to finer and finer papers to obtain a smooth finish.)

You can then apply multiple coats of wax, but the increased shine will be small. The shine comes mostly from surface preperation. Wax protects the finish. And, you should not "polish" the wax, just gently remove the dried wax between coats. "Polishing" the wax will only remove it and increase the chance of putting swirls or scratches back into the paint.

After waxing, you can apply #7 Showcar Glaze on top of the wax to increase the shine, but this product is not long-lasting as it is intended to maximize shine for car shows etc.

Re: Waxing more times gives more deep shine?

Yes i would like to get that car show shine effect.. I take pride in my car looking as shiny as possible when people are driving by..
And believe me I'm really taking care of my baby - a VW Polo 4 (6N) from 97.. I wash it a minimum of every two weeks but often more.. And i also polish the wax with a polishing machine to get that shine very often because I live on a dirt road so when my nabour drives by all the dust comes over my car
And then i go out and wash it, gives it wax and polishes it to get it all shiny again so I can stand and admire it and people can admire it when they come by..
I've spent my whole summer cleaning it up and making her pretty.. The previous owner have never since she have bought it given it wax or anykind of protection.. When there was somethung wrong it was sent to a mekanic but never done anything to keep the paint.. It didnt look that bad but I must say it helped the work I've done.. I've cleaned vinyl, cleaned the engine room, cleaned the interior and instument board.. Cleaned the tires, and given her a real makeover.. Her paint wasn't so faded but with a little work i got her to a better color then before and gave her a protecting layer and then waxed her over and over again.. And also done some scratch removing and tried to correct some paint faults.. She's fine now but the only thing I'm missing is for her to really really shine like a brand new car..
You know where you look at it and it blinds you because of the reflection.. That effect is what I'm looking for.. I've waxed her and polished the wax to get a cleaner surface and a more shiny look and it worked.. But not as much as I was hoping for.. I want that new car/show room/show car effect back to my green beauty

I want her to sparkle and shine like a diamond and like "my precius"

Well, it sounds like WestDK might be interested in a car show... who knows.

He needs to get the basics straight. You're getting a little esoteric.

Well, now in that case, for a car show, one could put a pure polish like #7 on top of the wax. Some people like the look of that, but I do not know if it removes some of the wax underneath.
