    The shop owner has no case since his shops name was not mentioned. Good thing your buddy can laugh about it! And if the lawyer really thinks this is worth it, the shop owner needs to get another lawyer. He's getting ripped off!

      Its sad that a business would let inferior quality work leave the premises and then proceed to sue for damages. If anything, the owner of the car should be sueing the bodyshop for what you charged to fix the defects....pitty that you didnt have the business name there and people would no not to deal with them in the future

            Sure they can. People sue every day for nonsensical reasons. What is true is that they likely cannot win but in so doing you, or the car owner, will need to hire a lawyer and fight their frivolous suit. This would cost money and take valuable time. Sometimes it is easier to just opt out of the dumb battles, even those that you are sure you will/could win.

            The down side is that these people will continue to inflict their poor workmanship on others.
