  • Proper Use of Quick Detailer

So here's a scenario. I come home and I see bird droppings or perhaps bug splatter. The car hasn't been washed for a couple weeks so it has a bit of dirt and dust.

What's the proper way to use quick detailer to remove the blemishes without introducing swirls?? Is ample spraying and wiping with microfiber sufficient?

Try and do as much blotting and gentle strokes as possible.

I agree with Murr, blotting is very good. Also, I would saturate the surface as much as possible with the Quick Detailer to break down that bird dropping. Beyond that, keep flipping your Microfiber towel over so you don't rub any of the harder pieces into the paint.

I take a spray bottle with water and break down the bird dropping and blot it like the others said. I'd then leave it alone until you have a chance to wash the car. I definitely wouldn't wipe the paint with any dirt on it.

What about using a duster first??

Keep in mind the dusters and quick detailers are meant to be used on light dust (and bugs/bird droppings) but you say "The car hasn't been washed for a couple weeks so it has a bit of dirt and dust." sounds like it may need a wash but like mentioned above if washing is not an option 'blotting' is the best option with a QD'er.

Yes, I would consider it light dust even though it hasn't been washed for 2, nearly 3 weeks. The vehicle I speak of is garage parked and not used daily so it's not quite dirty enough to warrant a car wash.

Ah, yes.... I assumed it was a daily driver.
