Re: Decided to get G100...now what else?

Well, I got my G100 and other supplies in the mail on Wednesday, which I thought was awesome service since I ordered online on Saturday afternoon. Today, I started on the van, but due to other commitments today, there was no way I was going to finish. So, I washed the van with some Meg's Deep Crystal Car Wash. I then clayed with Meg's Smooth Surface Clay kit. Now, I have clayed a few vehicles before, but I have never seen so much gunk come off. On the other vehicles I have done, the horizontal panels were bad, but the vertical panels not so bad. On the van, each section I did turned the clay surface brown. Anyway, after I finished, I decided to try out the G100 and #80. All I can say is WOW! I can't wait to see what the van looks like when it is done. I don't have a regular digital camera, but have a camcorder that also takes digital pics and I have been taking some pics with that. I can't post them now (not even sure how well they will turn out) because I can't find the cable to hook the camcorder to my computer, but when I find it I will post some. Thanks for all the help everyone!

Can't wait to see the pictures. I can tell you from experience ( I work at a one hour photo lab) that camcorder still pictures are not that great. They are better than nothing, but a true digital still camera is your best bet, even a 2 or 3 megapixel one.

Re: Decided to get G100...now what else?

Yesterday I washed and clayed the Grand Caravan. Today, I got out the G100 and #80 and went to work. The #80 was incredible, it made to paint so deep and glossy. However, there are a few scratches where I could use something a little stronger, maybe I'll have to pick up some Scratch-X for the next time I do this. Then I topped it off with some #21. I am amazed. This nearly 5 year old van with 90k miles looks better (except for a few spots) than it did when we bought it 3 years and 60k miles ago. The G100 was sooooo worth the money, it makes working on a vehicle the size of the Grand Caravan so much easier, and the results are better than I imagined! Unfortunately I don't have any pics yet, the pics from yesterday are still stuck on the camcorder and it was too dark when I finished today to get a pictures.

Rascal, I'm not expecting the pics to be too great, but my wife and I decided to get ourselves a digital camera this year for Christmas. So, I guess I'll have to detail the van again after Christmas.

Hey that's great. Can't wait to see the results. It's amazing what a little polish/cleaning and some good LSP will do to a finish.

I received my pc100 yesterday, I got some pads other than the one that came with it, and it came with one backing plate, should I get more backing plates, and is there any thing else othere than the polish which I have, I have various polishes to work with and waxes

Well, you weren't too specific, but in general:

              1 backing plate is plenty.
Couple 8006 pads, couple 9006 pads.
A 7006 pad if you choose to remove wax with bonnets.
#80, and a wax like Gold Class, Nxt, #21, #26 are all you need to get started.
Clay and soap as well of course.

Anything else is up to you really.
