which is better at removing old wax...and which is better/safer for doing so?? I've heard dawn is very "harsh" but I've seen simple green clean the heck out of things, so I'm assuming it's fairly harsh as well...

Are you referring to Simple Green the degreaser or do they have a soap that I don't know of?
I wouldn't use Dawn on my paint either. It will remove your old wax but it will also strip essential oils from your paint and dry out your rubber and vinyl pieces.
Any aggresive polish (i.e. Dacp, #9, Swirl free polish, etc) wil remove wax as will any of the paint cleaners. Deep crystal #1, Medallion Preminum Paint Cleaner.......
I have read conflicting reports on wheher clay will remove your wax but I go under the assumption that it will.

Don't use Simple Green on paint! As a landlord, I've had tenants use diluted SG on oven doors and range hoods - it can remove the paint even dilluted 5 or 6 parts water to 1 part Simple Green.
Years ago, I used it to degrease a hot engine and removed paint from the head and block dilluted 3 to 1.
According to Mike Phillips, Dawn (and certainly Simple Green) have no business on your paint.

All purpose cleaner plus (I guess it's a different product now) dilluted 64:1 is supposed to be a paint de-waxer. I've used this before to clean fender wells and gotten it on paint accidentally (in a 10:1 dillution mind you) and it didn't do a thing to it aside from removing the wax in that one area.Later,
